The government of Gabon, together with the Gabonese Strategic Investment Fund (FGIS) and Pan-African industrial group Eranove, has signed a concession for the production of two hydropower plants and one water production unit.
The signing of the agreement for the water production unit, called Orélo, follows the Memorandum of Understanding signed in March 2017 by all three organizations.
Serge Thierry Mickoto, Director and General Manager of the FGIS said: “We are delighted with the progress of these water and electricity projects carried out as part of our consortium with the Eranove group.”
Located in the Estuary province, the Orélo water production unit will have a production capacity of 140,000 m3 per day.
The project is part of improving water supply to Libreville and surrounding areas, as well as increasing the production capacity corresponding to the consumption of more than 600,000 people.
Marc Albérola, Managing Director of Eranove, said: “The signing of these three contracts is of particular importance to our Group. First, because it confirms the quality and depth of our partnership in Gabon with the state and the FGIS. Secondly, because these three signatures confirm our Pan-African leadership in the production of drinking water and electricity.”
The hydropower plants in development, called Ngoulmendjim and Dibwangui, will produce 73MW and 15MW respectively.
