Australian investors met with the Democratic Republic of Congo’s DRC’s Prime Minister H.E. Sylvestre Ilunga Ilunkamba last week, to discuss green industry cooperation opportunities in the DRC.

“We want to see how we can invest across the value chain from energy production to green industry,” said Andrew Forest, president and founder of Australian mining company Fortescue Metal Group, who was part of the delegation.

He added that local content was a key component of a potential future venture as the visit was also meant to identify Congolese nationals who could participate in future green industrial operations.

The next step of the discussion will be to put together a schedule of different potential phases, including feasibility studies, among others.
